NSHD: National Survey of Health and Development
NSHD: National Survey of Health and Development Cohort remote monitoring study
The National Survey of Health and Development (NSHD) is a long-standing epidemiological study aimed at investigating the health and well-being of a cohort of individuals born in the United Kingdom in March 1946. In the current phase of the study, the use of wearable technology and mobile health tools is being evaluated in order to enhance the understanding and improvement of the health of participants.
To achieve this goal, the NSHD study will leverage the capabilities of RADAR-base to gather data from approximately 2000 participants. This information, in conjunction with the data collected over the past 70 years, will provide researchers with a more comprehensive overview of various health indicators such as heart rate, sleep patterns, and physical activity.
RADAR-base will be utilized to gather data from a combination of Active App questionnaires and Garmin Vivoactive 4 devices over an 18-month period. This implementation is expected to provide valuable insights for the NSHD study and contribute to the advancement of epidemiological research on this cohort.
The project is led by University College London (UCL) by Professor Nishi Chaturvedi
