Jovens na Pandemia & MAAY Study
The Jovens na Pandemia and MAAY projects are controlled randomized clinical trials (RCT) aiming to develop remote psychological treatments that are potentially scalable and implementable in the public mental health system. They are funded by Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP, grants 2016/22455-8 and 2021/12439-3) and Open Society Foundation (OSF, grant OR219-62903).
The Jovens na Pandemia (www.jovensnapandemia.com.br) is a RCT to test the efficacy of an internet-delivered cognitive-behavioral program for treating anxious and depressive symptoms in children and adolescents in the context of COVID-19 pandemics in Brazil. This study is part of an initiative to characterize mental health in youth during the pandemics in Brazil and to develop scalable strategies to help parents and children who are in need. Number of participants (n=280).

The Motherly app offers psychoeducation, mood and anxiety monitoring, several well-established psychological techniques (behavioral activation, cognitive restructuring, emotion regulation, stress management techniques, mindfulness and meditation, sleep hygiene), and helps mothers organize their medical appointments and keep track of their childrens’ development (information on the app might be found at www.motherly.com.br). Number of participants (n=264).
